John R Thacker

John Rudolph Thacker, age 54, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025 at his home.  He was born on July 11, 1971 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Mervin L. Thacker and Leona Hilderbrand Thacker.

John was an auto mechanic for Memering Motorplex.  He was also a farmer and the owner/ operator of GT Equipment and Consignment.  John enjoyed building and working on cars for demolition derbies, attending farm auctions with his father, and spending time with his farming friends during farming season.

Preceding John in death were his father Mervin, his sister Cathy Jackson, and his brother Kelly Thacker.

Survivors include: his mother Leona; his brothers Carroll (Pam) Thacker of Sumner, Illinois, Michael Thacker of Indiana, Jeffery (Liz) Thacker of Oblong, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 16 at 1:00 PM at Sivert-Macey & Steffey funeral home.  Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  Burial will be in Waggoner Cemetery.
