John M. Snyder

John M. Snyder, 90, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Tuesday March 12, 2013 at the United Methodist Village North Campus. He was born in 1923 in Billett, IL the son of John F. and Nellie E. Snyder. On February 4, 1943 he married his high school sweetheart. He and Idelle had just celebrated their Seventieth Wedding Anniversary this year and also his ninetieth Birthday. Mr. Snyder was proud to have been a State Wrestling Champion during his high school years at LTHS. He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army during WWII and then went on to earn his PHD at the University of Illinois. John worked as a Director of Research for the Ralston Purina Company in St. Louis, MO. He and Idelle retired to the family farm where he enjoyed his continued passions for Horticulture, learning, and reading. Johns' son, John M. Snyder Jr. is deceased. He is survived by a daughter: Nancy Schnetzer of New York, NY, a sister: Norma Gieseman of Dalton, GA and two grandchildren. As per John's wishes, his body is being donated to science.
