John F. Bowman, age 74, of Bridgeport, IL passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Veteran's Hospital in Danville, IL. He was born July 9, 1936 in Bridgeport, IL the son of Clarence and Dorothy (Hedge) Bowman. He married Sharon Arnold in 1964 and she survives.
John worked with the Illinois Gas Company until he retired in 2001. He was an Army Veteran and affiliated with the Pisgah Presbyterian Church.
John's memberships included the Red Hill Veteran's Club, Bridgeport Moose, Bridgeport American Legion, and Olney VFW.
John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Jack and George and one sister Mary Lou.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of Bridgeport; one son John Bowman, Jr of Zachrey, LA; one daughter Cyndy Bowman of Boynton Beach, FL; two step-sons Richard Fiscus and wife Marla of Bridgeport and Mike Fiscus and wife Beth of Claremont; as well as four grandchildren Aimee Puhls, Logan Fiscus, Katie Bowman, and Michael Fiscus.
Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until the hour of service Thursday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Veteran's Association.
