Joel T. Compton

Joel T. Compton, Jr., 52, of rural Sumner, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He was born September 23, 1961, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of Joel Compton, Sr. and Sarah (Duncan) Compton. He married Julie Pinnick in April, 1980, and she survives. Joel worked as a driller for various oil companies. Preceding Joel in death were his parents and one daughter, Brandy Pinnick. Survivors include his loving wife Julie Compton of rural Sumner; one son Jason Compton of West Virginia; one daughter Jillian Compton and her companion Charlie Wall of rural Sumner; one brother Carl "Doug" Compton of West Virginia; three sisters Kathy Compton, Francis Compton, and Debbie Jarvis all of West Virginia; and three grandchildren Jace Compton, Jordan Compton, and Olivia Wall. Joel's wishes were to be cremated. There will be no formal services.
