Jesse Kendall Griffin

Jesse Kendall Griffin, age 91, of Bridgeport, IL, passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at his daughter's home in Petersburg, IN. He was born August 15, 1924, in Lawrence County, IL, the son of William J. and Sylvia (Novalle) Griffin. He married Imogene "Imy" Paul and she died May 21, 2002. Jesse was a US Navy Veteran, having served during WWII. He worked as Chief Engineer on Ohio Valley Barge Line. He then worked as a laborer for Maeco. He enjoyed antique refinishing. Jesse attended HiWay Church of God. He was a member of American Legion, VFW, Lion's Club, Marine Engineers and a past Mason. Preceding Jesse in death were his parents, his wife "Imy", five brothers, two sisters and one grandson. Survivors include a son, Dennis J. (Kim) Griffin of Bridgeport; a daughter, Sue Ann (Ed) Shoultz of Petersburg, IN, two grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Burial in Cresthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
