Jerry W. Montgomery, 65, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Friday April 18, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Born February 21, 1943 in Lawrence County, IL he was the son of Ernest and Rhonda (Roland) Montgomery.On May 16, 1965 he married Penny Helman. She survives.He worked at the Texaco Refinery as an Instrument Tech and Safety Committee and retired from Cinergy/ Duke Energy. He was currently employed with the Illinois Department of Transportation Highway Maintenance. He attended Lawrence Township High School. He was a member of the Lawrenceville Zoning Board, and had previously served as Precinct Committeeman. He also served on the Parish Council at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vincennes, IN. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam, was Nike Hercules Missle Operator and Soldier of the mMonth. He was also on the Island of Okinawa Japan during Bay of Pigs Invasion and Vietnam War.Surviving are a son Brian Montgomery and his fiancee Lindsay Schwarz, a sister Rosemary Lamb of Indiana, 2 grandchildren: Abrianna and Ava, and 36 nieces and nephews.The funeral will be Saturday April 26, 2008 at 1:00PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Visitation is from 11:00am to the service hoour of 1:00PM. Private burial will be at a later date.
