Jerry L. Atkins

Jerry L. Atkins, 75, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born November 8, 1942 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Wilbur E. and Anna (Fiscus) Atkins. He married Judy Sumner on June 3, 1962 and she survives. Jerry was a graduate of Vincennes University and the University of Illinois, where he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Division Manager at several Marathon Refineries until his retirement. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Quail Creek Country Club, where he served on the board. He enjoyed showing quarter horses for many years. He was also an avid sports fan and follower of his grandchildren's activities. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife, Judy; one daughter, Tarita Siler of Robinson, Illinois; one brother, Jack Atkins of Clifton, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Austin Siler, Aaron Siler, and Abby Siler. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery.
