Jeffrey 'Jeff' Wayne Correll

July 28, 1957 — May 16, 2024

Jeffrey 'Jeff' Wayne Correll, age 66, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at his residence. He was born on July 28, 1957 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Franklin O. and Madelyn E. (Hieronymus) Correll. He married Theresa Ann Baker on April 21, 1979, and she survives. Together they shared a life of 45 years.

Jeff attended grade school in a one room school house in Lukin, until it closed and then attended Sumner School. He graduated in 1975 from Red Hill High School. He continued his education at Illinois State University, and that is where he met his wife. After many moves with his job, he and his wife finally settled back on his family farm in the early 1980’s.

Jeff was a hardworking family man. He started his business, Correll Construction, in 1999 and was a skilled builder that could build or fix anything. Some of his accomplishments that he was most proud of were, a house for his daughter in Olney, a new business for his daughter in Lawrenceville, Casey State Bank in Lawrenceville and Robinson, Dr. Jerri Boughan’s Dental Office; as well as numerous homes in both Lawrence and Richland Counties. He was also proud of a house that he brought back to life in Olney.

Jeff enjoyed every moment of attending his grandkids sporting events and activities. The one thing that he enjoyed the most with his grandkids was taking them fishing. He had a strong faith and was a member of the Beulah Harvest Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School with his wife, and was a Trustee in the early years at the Sumner United Methodist Church. He served as Lukin Township Trustee for many years.

Jeff was a well-loved man of the Lukin Community. He was known for his big smile and his laughter, and always willing to help. He didn’t know a stranger. If you wanted a job done, he would usually say, “I will put you on my list.”

Preceding him were his parents, Frank and Madelyn Correll and in-laws, Charles and Nancy Baker.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa; two daughters, Tiffany Trupiano and husband, Tony of Olney, Illinois and Amy Abell and husband, Brad of Bridgeport, Illinois; one brother, Richard ‘Alan’ Correll and wife, Debby of West Salem, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Isabella Trupiano, Giuseppe Trupiano, Madelyn Abell, Lucca Trupiano, and Dallas Abell.
