Jeffrey L. Burson

Jeffrey L. Burson, age 61 of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Saturday, March 26,2016, at Carle Hospital in Champaign, Il.  He was born October 01, 1954 in Newton, Illinois, the son of Edgar A. and Imogene (Cook) Burson.  He married his soul mate, Beth Morlan on June 12, 2002 and she survives.   Jeff was a 1972 graduate of LTHS.  Following graduation he entered the US Army. He later entered into the  101 Airborne Para Trooper Division, where he graduated first out of 240 in his division. After his enlistment, he continued to serve his country as a police officer in Georgetown, Il. He later worked as a correctional officer with the Illinois Dept. of Corrections in Danville and later transferred to the Lawrence Correctional Facility.  He had a passion for gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, playing slot machines, cooking and long car rides.  Those were just a few of the pleasures he enjoyed. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife Beth: three sons, Clayton Burson of Peoria, Treavor Burson of Danville, Tyler (Brittaney) Burson of Hillery.  Three daughters, Crystal Burson of Danville,  Jessica Parrott Aten and Shelly Parrott both of Lawrenceville; one brother Mike (Gloria) Burson of Chico,Ca.; one sister Shelia (Jeff) Heck of Prospect Heights.  Seven grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews survive. Lastly his faithful companion, his dog, Jaxson. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016, 2:00 p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 12 noon till the service hour of 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
