Beverly "Jane" Hensley, 82, of Lawrenceville passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. She was born August 14, 1931, in Flat Rock, Illinois, the daughter of Pearl Luther and Goldie Mae (Shingle) Prier. She married Warren Otto "Junior" Hensley on August 31, 1949.
Throughout her lifetime Jane owned and operated various restaurants in Lawrenceville, including the Sandwich Queen, Dairy Queen, and she owned and operated Lawrenceville Drive-In for 20 years, until her retirement. Jane was well known for her famous Pizza Burgers. She was a member of First Church of God in Lawrenceville.
Preceding Jane in death were her parents, her husband "Junior", and one sister June Dedrick.
Survivors include two daughters Beverly (David) Mefford and Judy (Joe) Ditch, all of Lawrenceville; two sisters Maudell (Allen) Goodrich of Texas and Vicki Howe of rural Lawrenceville; four grandchildren Corey Mefford, Crystal Mefford-Woodruff, Tyler Ditch and Travis Ditch, and two great-grandchildren Akeelah Jane Mefford and Jaxson Wayne Mefford.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
