James Allen Winship

James Allen Winship, age 70, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on February 06, 1953 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of James and Mary Lou (Fisher) Winship. He married Sallie Shope on July 22, 2000, and she survives.

Jimmy was an auto salesman at J. Wilderman Autoplex in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He was a member of the Single Action Shooting Society, and a past member of the Elks and Moose. He liked having fun, loved his two boys and his pets, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching Westerns. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He was always ready for a Jim Beam and Coke, as well as Hooters and hot wings.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Roy Daniel Winship; and one sister, Theresa Diane Sechrest.

Survivors include his wife, Sallie; two sons, James Joseph ‘Jim’ Winship and wife, Tatiana of Lafayette, Indiana and Nicholas Brandon Winship of Bridgeport, Illinois; one sister, Susan Lynch and husband, John of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Noah Belle Winship and Zoey Jane Winship; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Senior Citizens or the Lawrence County Humane Society. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
