James 'Jim' Taylor Wolfe

James ‘Jim' Taylor Wolfe, 88, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois. He was born July 11, 1930 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Joseph Franklin and Rosetta (Taylor) Wolfe. He married Elija ‘Alice' Sanchez on April 15, 1950 and she survives. Jim was a manager with Grief Brothers at George Field, worked as carpenter and contractor, worked for Texaco and Indiana Refinery for 13 years, and finished out his working career as a Walmart greeter. He was a baseball coach for the American Legion Team, umpired baseball, and received a 25-year award for serving as part of the chain gang and running the score board for the Lawrenceville Football Team from 1977-2002. He was a member of the Military Police in the United States Army, where he was part of the ACF Atomic Research during the Korean War. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church. Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Grant Wolfe, Charlie Wolfe, Jack Wolfe, Harold Wolfe, and Tommy Wolfe; and four sisters, Hilda Fielden, Mary Watkins, Joanne Gaither, and Barbara Blanchard Survivors include his wife, Alice; three sons, James Wolfe and wife, Jan, of Phoenix, Arizona, Thomas Wolfe and wife, Chris, of Kalkaska, Michigan, and Timothy Wolfe and wife, Regina, of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Kent Wolfe of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters, Pat Hardy and husband, Phil, of Fort Meyers, Florida and Martha Hawley of Casper, Wyoming; nine grandchildren, Amity Emmons, Blaine Emmons, Justin Wolfe, Tyler Wolfe, Kale Staver, Kinsey Staver, Travis Wolfe, Jessica Robnett, and Ashley Pukay-Martin; and seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Cooper, Jackson, Madison, Zoë, Sheen, and Emery. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 12:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery with military rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church.
