James Monroe Tate, age 87, of Lawrenceville passed away Monday, February 6, 2012 at his residence. He was born January 17, 1925 in Decatur, IL the son of Raymond M. and Mary (Berry) Tate. He married Barbara Ferguson May 15, 1953 and she survives.
Jim was a Site Superintendent at Red Hills State Park. He also owned and operated Tate Auto Repair. Jim was an Army Veteran, having served during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was especially fond of the family's two dogs, Abbi and Sparky.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Glenna and Genevieve.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of Lawrenceville, two sons Timothy & wife Mitz, Ricky & wife Tammy both of Bridgeport, two daughters Teresa Jean & husband Terry Inboden of Bridgeport,Il. and Renee'& husband Jack Campbell of Lawrenceville,Il. and 7 grandchildren
survive, Tim Tate, Jeremy Diggs, Aaron Diggs, Chris Tate, Kylie Tate, Derrick Tate, Cassie Brinkman., along with 6 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to mention a very special friend Joe Burkhart.
Graveside services will be Wednesday 2:30 p.m. at Lawrenceville City Cemetery with military rites by American Legion & VFW. There will be no visitation.
Memorial donations may be made to the Carmi Baptist Childrens Home.
