James T. Sweeten

James T. Sweeten, Sr., age 75, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at St. Vincent Heart Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born November 13, 1939, in Noble, IL. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bertie (Moore) Sweeten; brother, Roy Sweeten, and sisters, Peggy Fahr, Janice Benthimer and Phyllis Strauch. Survivors include his wife of 53 years Sue Ann (Frost); sons, James "Jimmy" Sweeten, Jr. (Dana) of Vincennes, IN and Jeff Sweeten (Angie) of Billett, IL; his daughter Beth Onstott (Troy) of Camdenton, MO; his sister Jenetta Wallace of Lawrenceville, IL; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jim was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served from 1957-1960. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim worked for Castle Energy (Texaco) as an inspector for five years. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers out of St. Louis, working as an Industrial X-ray Technician for 20 years and the owner and operator of S & S Inspection for 10 years. As an Industrial X-ray Technician he worked on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Per his wishes, he is being cremated and there will be no services. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital with envelopes available through Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home.
