James S. Snyder

James ‘Jim' Sherman Snyder, 77, of St. Francisville, Illinois passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Fayette County, Illinois on March 13, 1940, the son of Bryan and Nioma (Swofford) Snyder. He moved to Olney, Illinois in 1963 and married Carlion Doss on April 2, 1966. Jim worked at the Shoe Factory in Olney, Illinois for a while and then went to AMF, where he worked as a boss in the Plating Department until they closed. After the closing of AMF, he worked for several years in Lawrenceville at Suttle Apparatus, where he traveled all over the world putting up sound proof rooms at hospitals. He then moved to Florida and lived there for seven years, where he worked as a boss in the Plating Department. He eventually moved back to St. Francisville and worked at KCARC until his retirement at the age of 62. Jim loved reading books and traveling. He attended Emmanuel Tabernacle Church in St. Francisville, Illinois. Jim had three sons and two daughters: James Snyder of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Duewayne Snyder and wife, Beth, of Bridgeport, Illinois, Dennis Milligan of Allendale, Illinois, Cindy Bateman of Somonauk, Illinois, Debbie Clark and husband, Chris, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee; two brothers, Leon Snyder, and wife, Hildegarde, of Germany and David Snyder of Greenville, Illinois; two sisters, Joyce Bolla of Smithboro, Illinois and Ruth Sloan of Greenville, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friend, David Hulfachor of St. Francisville, Illinois. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Emmanuel Tabernacle Church.
