Biography
James "Jim" O.R. Eckiss, age 70, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois, left this world in the embrace of his wife, to the embrace of his Lord. Jim passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital, Hospice House, September 2, 2014. He was born May 24, 1944, in Bridgeport, Illinois, the son of Willie R. Eckiss and Bonnie E. (Humes) Eckiss.
In December, 1971, he married Barbara "Bobbie" Sechrest. They enjoyed their life together and he has left Bobbie with treasured memories to last forever in her heart.
Jim attended Olney Central College and received his RN license in 1972. Jim practiced nursing for 30+ years at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Even after his retirement in 2007, he and Bobbie would sit on their porch and recall some of the outstanding memories of the experiences and the people that they had met during their nursing careers; some sad and some funny memories.
Jim attended the Wesleyan Christian Church in Lawrenceville where he was also baptized.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents, an infant sister, an infant niece, an infant great nephew, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Jim is survived by his wife, Bobbie, of rural Lawrenceville; two brothers: Roland Eckiss of Bridgeport and Benny Eckiss of Portland, Oregon; three sisters: Jane (Walter) Thiry of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Barbara Kimbrel of Mt. Carmel and Dianne Angle of Lawrenceville. All of his family members were so special to him.
