James C. Moyes

James C. Moyes, age 71, of St. Francisville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at his residence.  He was born September 18, 1953 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Leo Vincent Moyes and Alta Mae Richards Moyes.  He married Sylvia Riester, September 4, 1976, and she survives.

James worked for Wabash Food Services in Vincennes, Indiana and Dowell Schlumberger Oil Company of Mt. Carmel, Illinois.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and spending time with his family.

Preceding James in death was his father, Leo, and brother, Steven “Moe” Moyes.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; mother, Alta Moyes; son, Joshua (Lorri) Moyes of St. Francisville, Illinois, daughter, Erin (T.J.) Shaffer of Marshall, Illinois; brother, Anthony (Carla) Moyes of St. Francisville; sisters, Vicki Alsfield of St. Francisville, Judy Clark of St. Francisville; six grandchildren, Austin Moyes, Azabeth Moyes, Asher Moyes, Archer Moyes, Aubree Shaffer and Quentin Shaffer.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 29, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. till the service hour of 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in St. Francisville.
