James F. Mason

James F. Mason, age 91, of rural Lawrenceville, IL passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at his residence. He was born February 1, 1920 in Wabash County, IL the son of George W. and Della Mae (Gabbert) Mason. He married his first wife Mary Jane Huddleston in 1940 and she died in 1986. He married his second wife Elizabeth "Liz" (Alford) Doan in 1991 and she survives. James worked at Texaco for 40 years as a welder and gauger. He was also a farmer. James was an Army Veteran, having served during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Texaco Union, VFW, and the Credit Union where he served as secretary. James was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his second wife Elizabeth of rural Lawrenceville; two step-sons Harry R. Doan of Albuquerque, NM and Ronald E. Doan of Peoria, IL; two step-daughters Connie Chamberlain of Hartselle, AL and Sharon Trout of Peoria, IL; one brother David Mason of Seelyville, IN; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
