James Leroy Luthe, age 76, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He was born November 14, 1949 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Robert D. and Mary M. (Travis) Luthe of West Salem, Illinois. He married Sue Weger on June 6, 1971, and she survives.
Jim was a proud graduate of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, where he was an active alumnus of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity, maintaining lifelong friendships and connections.
Jim built a long and steady career, first working at the Texaco Refinery and later retiring from IPL/AES in Petersburg, Indiana. Jim was a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, rarely missing a game, and enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm for the team with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sue (Weger) Luthe; his daughters, Allison Luthe and Amanda Campbell, both of Indianapolis; and his cherished grandsons, Trajan and Parker Campbell, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings Roberta Brown, Maggie Bringa, Mike Luthe, and Robbin Eckel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Luthe.
Jim’s wishes were to be cremated. No formal services will be held. A Celebration of Life open house will be announced at a later day.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sign of the Kingdom or Kids Shopping Day at Central Christian Church.
