James "Jim" C. Laslie

James “Jim” C. Laslie, age 75, of St. Francisville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. He was born October 8, 1950, in Sullivan, Indiana, the son of James O. Laslie and Nancy Ellen Brown Laslie. He married Rita Hooten Laslie June 6, 1968, and she survives.

Jim was a skilled electrician whose career reflected his dedication, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic. Throughout the years, he worked for Herrin Electric, Tracy Electric, and Pioneer Asphalt. He co-owned M & L Electric and went on to own and operate Laslie Electric, providing dependable service to his community. Jim was a graduate of Lawrenceville High School. Jim was a member of the former Church of God of Prophecy in Lawrenceville. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting firearms and knives, shooting archery, and outdoor sports.

Preceding James in death were his parents, siblings, John Laslie, Debbie Laslie and Lisa Mae Laslie; daughter-in-law, Sherry Laslie.

Survivors include: his wife, Rita; children, James E. (Sherry) Laslie of Lawrenceville, Todd Laslie of St. Francisville, Tony (Hollee) Laslie of Lawrenceville, Penny (Brent) Borden of Lawrenceville; special niece, Nancy Sherman of Lawrenceville; siblings, Pat Volkman of Lawrenceville, Sherry Hamilton of Lawrenceville, and Bruce Laslie of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Payton Laslie, Jessica Laslie, Emily (Diego) Perez-Borden, Collin Laslie, Matthew Borden, Mason Laslie, and Korbin Laslie.

No formal services will be held. A private Celebration of Life will be conducted at a later date.
