James "Jim" William Barrix

James “Jim” William Barrix, age 80, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on May 22, 1945 in Birds, Illinois, the son of John Arthur and Wilma Mae Higgins Barrix. He married Nancy Sue DeLoriea on November 28, 1970, and she survives.

Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force. In his early years, he worked in construction and as a truck driver, later spending 12 years in maintenance at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He also was employed with Golden Rule Insurance. Jim enjoyed fishing, watching Western movies, and listening to music from the 1950s and 1960s. Above all, he valued time spent with his family and especially enjoyed playing cards with them.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; his children, Amy Barrix-Neeley and Seth Hesler of Flat Rock, Illinois, and Elizabeth (Dr. Christopher) Mendola of Chandler, Arizona; one grandchild, Carisa Mendola; a brother, Dale (Janet) Barrix of Vincennes, Indiana; two sisters, Jeanette Zeller of Vincennes, Indiana, and Marcella Ann Barrix of Lawrenceville, Illinois.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM CST at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memorial.
