James R. Ackman

James R. Ackman May 25, 1935 - August 8, 2012 James R. Ackman, age 77, of rural Lawrenceville, IL passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at his residence. Born May 25, 1935, in Gibson County, IN, he was the son of Earl and Nancy Harriet (Fisher) Ackman. He married Betty Wilson June 14, 1958, and she survives. James worked as a farmer. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. James was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Betty of rural Lawrenceville, two sisters Wanda (Tom) Gaddy of Lawrenceville and Jane (Stan) Slatton of the state of Washington, as well as several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Billett Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Hospice or the Billett United Methodist Church Building Fund with envelopes available through the funeral home.
