Inez Belle Atkins

Inez Belle Atkins, 88, of Claremont, IL, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at her daughters residence in Carmel, IN.She was born March 25, 1922 in Sumner, IL, the daughter of Claude and Carrie (Poland) Shick. She was married in 1941 to Kermit Atkins. He survives.She is also survived by a daughter, Beverly and her husband, Richard Pearson, of Carmel, IN, grandchildren; Nathan Pearson, of Chicago, Adrienne Whetstone and her husband, Eldon, of Carmel, IN., and Jennifer Pearson, of Carmel, IN.; and a great-grandson, Nolan Whetstone. Inez was devoted to her family and friends. She loved making a home on the farm where she lived for more than 60 years and had a passion for her many cats who came to stay there over the years. She was a member of the Gilead Presbyterian Church, the church she had attended her whole life.She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Carrie (Poland) Shick; a brother; W.R. Shick, and sisters; Leona Newberry and Tressie Bellinger.The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 am at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home. Burial will be in Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
