Hilga V. Buchanan age 93 of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois died Sunday morning, January 09, 2011 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois.She was a homemaker. She taught adult literacy at the Lawrence Township Library. She was an artist with a passion for painting, enjoyed music where she played various instruments, and enjoyed quilting and needlepoint.She was born June 23, 1917 in Newaygo County, Mich. The daughter of Thomas VanHolstyn and Johanna Catherine Lydia Roossinck VanHolstyn and they preceded in death. She married Warner Knight Jack Buchanan on October 07, 1942 and he preceded her in death April 12, 2000. Two sisters are also deceased.She is survived by one son Warner Daniel Buchanan of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois. Three daughters survive, Carolyn Gertrude Lofft of Mt.Dora, Fla., Susan Buchanan Councell Rabourn of Lawrenceville, Il., Anne Buchanan James of Apopka,Fla. One brother Walter VanHolstyn of Grand Rapids, Mich. Two sisters, Mina Buchanan of St. Francisville, Il. and Lois Klassen of Aberdeen, Idaho. Thirteen grandchildren, and twelve greatgrandchildren also survive.The funeral will be Thursday afternoon 1:00p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday 12:00 noon till the service hour of 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Buchanan Cemetery south of Lawrenceville, Illinois.
