Hershel B. Beoughter

December 5, 1918 — October 3, 2014

Hershel B. Beoughter, age 95, of rural Lawrenceville, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He was born December 5, 1918 in El Paso, Illinois, the son of James and Pearl (Goodart) Beoughter. He married Ernestine Stevenson on June 11, 1949, and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary earlier this year. A friend to both man and animal, Hershel had never met a stranger. He was known for his quick wit, positive outlook, and always having a story on hand. Hershel had numerous jobs throughout his life, but he is best known for owning and operating Hersh's Barber Shop in Lawrenceville for 40 years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Bridgeport and VFW. Hershel was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during WWII. He served in the "Hell on Wheels" 2nd Armored Calvary Division for General Patton and was his personal driver on numerous occasions. Preceding Hershel in death were his parents one sister Jean Morrison, and one niece Julie Patterson. His memory continues on in the many lives he touched. Survivors include his wife, Ernestine, of rural Lawrenceville, two daughters Janet (Donnie) Rogers and Carla (Roger) Kull all of Lawrenceville; four grandchildren Brandon Rogers of Lafayette, IN, Brett Rogers, Ryan Kull, and Jordan Kull, all of Lawrenceville; five nephews, Scott Stevenson and David Stevenson of Houston, TX, Benny D. Hutchinson of Vincennes, IN, Mike Morrison and Tim Morrison of St. Louis, MO, and Penny Grubbs of North Vernon, IN. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Monday at Crest Haven Memorial Cemetery Chapel with military rites by the American Legion and VFW. There will be no formal visitation prior to the gravesite services which are open to the public. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Cemetery.
