Helen L. Jerrell

Helen L. Jerrell, age 82, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, IL. She was born January 5, 1930 in Lawrence County, IL the daughter of Roy Melvin and Opal Lucille (Doty) Minniear. She married her first husband Harley Belt who preceded her in death. Her second husband, Roy Melvin Jerrell, whom she married July 1, 1972, passed away April 27, 1997. Helen was a homemaker and performed domestic work for various people over the years. She was a member of Whitehouse Christian Church and attended the 4th Street Wesleyan Christian Church in Lawrenceville. Her parents, both her first and second husband, one son Richard Jerrell and one brother Mel Minniear preceded Helen in death. Survivors include one son Dan Belt of Tennessee; one daughter Betty (Merle) Wells of Lawrenceville; daughter-in-law Bertha Jerrell of Vincennes; three sisters-in-law Sheila Minniear, Bobbie Jerrell, and Dee Jerrell; one brother-in-law Paul Preston; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow in Ackman Cemetery. Memorials may be made to United Methodist Village-North Campus Activities Department.
