Helen N. Groff, age 94 of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the United Methodist Village North Campus. She was born September 04, 1919, in Lawrence County Illinois, the daughter of Archie and Daisy (Herring) Fornshell. She married Loy L. Groff on April 21, 1939, and he preceded her in death August 10, 2013.
Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. Her hobbies included reading, traveling, and collecting antiques.
Preceding Helen in death were her parents, husband Loy, son Leonard Ray Groff, daughter Sharon Sue (Groff) Link, three brothers Ederett Fornshell, Clarence Fornshell, Kenneth Fornshell; and three sisters, Chloe Legg, Beatrice Poland, and Majoria Spillman.
Survivors include sister Freda Black of Lawrenceville, Illinois; son- in- law Edward A. Link, of Scottsdale, Arziona; grandchildren, Kimberly Sue (Timothy) Link-Bass, of North Stonington, Connecticut, and Douglas Edward (Michelle) Link of Topsfield, Massachusetts; step grandson, Zander Baas of North Stonington, Connecticut; brother- in-law, Jack (Judy) Groff of Evansville, Indiana; sister- in- law Mildred Fornshell of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Village North Campus Chapel. Burial will be at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
