Harry Earnest Anderson, age 97, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on Monday, May 06, 2024 at his residence. He was born on August 14, 1926 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Joe Willard and Fannie N. (Casey) Anderson. He married Audrey Evelyn Hardiman on January 18, 1950, and she preceded him in death on February 24, 2013.
Harry served his country in the United States Navy, during WWII. While he was in the Navy, he was a pitcher for the Seahawks fastpitch softball team, and played on area softball leagues. He worked in production at Marathon in Bridgeport, and was a farmer all his life. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, watching dirt track car races, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; one son, James ‘Duke’ Anderson; twin daughters; two sisters, Ann Joiner and Virginia Hardiman; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Anderson; and one grandson, Chad Anderson.
Survivors include two sons, Jackie ‘Jack’ (Marie) Anderson of Palestine, Illinois and Gary Wayne Anderson of Comanche, Oklahoma; two brothers, Victor Anderson and Carl (Ginger) Anderson all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one sister, Irene Morris of Princeton, Indiana; ten grandchildren, Jammia (Robin) Joska, Lacey (Mike) Burris, Bethany (Reese) Ivers, Jacob Anderson, Jason (Stacey) Bradbury, Brian (Jamie) Bradbury, Stacey (Mark) Holt, Dustin (Rebecca) Anderson, Mason (Kiley) Hurst, and Logan Hurst; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 2:00 PM CDT at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM CDT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Portee Cemetery.
