Harold R. Smith

Harold R. Smith age 72 of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at his residence. He was born September 14, 1941 in Mt. Carmel, IL the son of William "Bill" and Dorothy Mae (Calvin) Smith. December 28, 1963 Harold married Joyce Medlen and she survives. Harold was retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service to his country. He enlisted November 09, 1960 and retired November 09, 1980 with the rank of Master Sargent. Following his retirement from the military he worked for Tussey Trucking for five years. He was employed at the American Legion Post #28 as a bartender for 13 years, and he also served as past Post Commander. He enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. Survivors include his wife Joyce, Two daughters; Becky Riggs of Mascoutah IL, Denise Bull of Lawrenceville, IL, Two brothers; Gary and wife Kay Smith, Mike and wife Kim Smith of St. Francisville, IL. Three sister; Nona and husband Ron Ravellette of St. Francisville, IL., Dora and husband Ray Glenn of St. Francisville, IL., Karen and husband Ronnie Breen of Herrin, IL. Along with five grandchildren: Sean Riggs, Jaclyn Sneed, Kevin Carie,Levi Carie, Danica Morris and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral mass will be Friday, December 27, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at the St. Francisville Xavier Catholic Church located in St. Francisville, IL. Visitation will be Friday 12:00 noon till the service hour of 2:00p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in St. Francisville, IL.
