Harold E. Chesnut

Harold E. Chesnut, age 86, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on October 23, 1937 in Washington, Indiana, the son of Harlin and Hazel (Faith) Chesnut. He married Phyllis Ann Boes in 1958, and she survives.

Harold served his country in the United States Navy. He started his working career with his family at Chesnut Package Delivery. He worked as a truck driver for Roadway Express for 21 years, and also drove for several other companies for over 40 years. His memberships included International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Ann Chesnut; one son, Bret Chesnut of Shoals, Indiana; three daughters, Christina Perry Martin and husband, Thomas of Gurley, Alabama, Dana Wood and husband, John of Montgomery, Indiana, and Rainee Webster and husband, Matt of Sumner, Illinois; two sisters, Velma Carlson of Texas and Connie Armstrong of Springfield, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be conducted at a later date. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
