Gladys Amanda Brock-Kimmel April 21, 1922 - May 7, 2012 Gladys Amanda Kimmel passed away May 7, 2012, Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, IL at the age of 90 years old. Gladys was born on April 21, 1922 to Charles Omar and Grace Evelyn (Slover) Inyart, in Bonpas Township, Richland County, IL. Pastor Jeff Haley of the Sumner United Methodist Church will be officiating the service. Gladys married John "Jack" Wesley Moore, Jr. of Bridgeport, IL, in Princeton, IN in August 1937. To this union they had one child, Shirley Ann Moore. Jack died in WWII, Battle of the Bulge. Gladys then married Delbert D. Brock in Sumner, IL. To this union they had two sons Larry Dean Brock and Jerry Dee Brock. They lived in Sumner most of their life. In 1970's, D.D. and Gladys moved to Carmi. They then moved to Wyoming where Shirley and her family, and Larry and his family had moved. After Jerry was discharged from the Army, he too joined the family in Wyoming. Jerry died in a motor vehicle accident while living in Wyoming. D.D. and Gladys then moved to Carmi to be closer to Larry, who had moved back to Illinois. This move was on May 26, 1985. While in Carmi, D.D. passed away in May, 1990. Gladys then moved back to Sumner. In October, 2004, Gladys married Bob Kimmel in Sumner. Bob passed away October, 2008. Even though she married Bob, she was always known by her grandkids as "Grandma Brock". She was a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church. Gladys dedicated her life and soul to the Lord on November 3, 1953 at the Ray VanGilder pond, south of Sumner. She joined the Methodist Church in Sumner on Sunday morning, November 8, 1953. She was known for her cooking, baking pies, homemade noodles, veggie soup and many more dishes which pleased her family. When you went to her home you were always welcome and had something to eat. Gladys prided herself on her cooking and keeping house. Gladys is preceded in death by her husbands John Wesley Moore, Jr., Delbert D. Brock and Bob Kimmel. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Shirley Ann (Moore) VanGilder in March 2006 and son Jerry Dee Brock in December 1973. Her sisters Violet June Earnst in 1975 and Roberta Fern Andrews in 2011 also preceded her in death. Gladys is survived by a son Larry (Jo) Brock of Carmi, grandchildren Regina (Stan) Lanning, Teresa (Rick) McCaslin, Darla (Allan) Lindsay, and Marcia (Jaime) Jones all of Wyoming. Great-grandchildren are Chris (Kathy) Lanning, Matt Lanning, Deidre (Chris) Denison, Chandra (Jared) Holgate, Tosha Lindsay, Joshua Lindsay, Madison Jones and Jacob Jones all of Wyoming. Great-great grandchildren are Isaac Lanning, Maybrie Denison, Wyatt Denison and Taelynn Sullivan and son-in-law James VanGilder of Wyoming. One great-great grandchild is on the way. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 PM at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial in Cresthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
