Gilbert Hunt, age 86, of Lawrenceville passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at United Methodist Village North Campus. He was born October 11, 1924 in Mt. Carmel, IL the son of Henry Franklin and Alta (Buchanan) Hunt. He married Sarah Gibson February 14, 1948 and she died April 24, 2004.Gilbert was an Army veteran having served during WWII. He worked as a welder and maintenance for Witco Chemical Company from September 1946 until retirement on October 30, 1986. He was a lifetime member of the Moose and VFW #2244. Gilbert enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, as well as camping and being outdoors.Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers Gale and Elbert and six sisters Leona Wirth, Pearl Ogden, Izola Rosie Lynch, Mary Abbott, Opal Rodgers, and Jacqueline Forney.Survivors include one son Gib Hunt and wife Edie of Lawrenceville; one daughter Cherrie Leach and husband Richard of Olney; three grandchildren Russ Weston and wife Tami, Sabrina and Savanna Hunt; five great-grandchildren Tara McBride, Brandon Weston, Ashlyn Weston, Hannah Weston, Logan Michael Stephens; and one great-great-grandchild Camden Weston.Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, 1303-12th Street, Lawrenceville.Funeral services will be 10 am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in May Chapel Cemetery with military rites.
