Gifford Sharp Zimmerman

Biography Gifford Sharp Zimmerman, 94, of Glendale, WI passed away Saturday December 10, 2011 at Horizon Hospice in Mequon, WI. He was born May 25, 1917 in Mt. Carmel, IL the son of Victor Hugo and Bertha Maude (Sharp) Zimmerman. On June 19, 1943 he married Aldine (Irions) Zimmerman. She died in May 1976. He was then married to Loraine Hiteman Zimmerman on October 26, 1979. She died November 15, 2010. He is survived by a daughter: Lucy Anne (Zimmerman) Martin of Mequon, WI, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and wives, brothers: Kenneth N. Zimmerman, Ronald K. Zimmerman, Victor Hugo Zimmerman, Henry George Zimmerman, and sisters: Ester Louise Noyce, Ester Jane Lovell, Marjorie Couch, and Hilda M. Zimmerman are deceased. He graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, and the University of Illinois with a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture Education and earned Masters Degrees in Agriculture Education and Agronomy as well as an Advanced Certificate in Agriculture Education. He taught at Armstrong High School, Flora Township High School, Njala College in Sierra Leone Africa and Wilmington College. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and retired as Lieutenant. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date.
