George F. Tipsword of Fulton, MS (formerly of Lawrenceville) passed away at the home of his companion, Fran Wolf, in Evansville, IN on Monday April 20, 2009.He was born November 6, 1920 the son of George C. and Mary (Hershman) Tipsword. George was married December 4, 1948 to Sydney L. Onines and she preceded him in death on August 9, 1982.A graduate of Purdue University, George owned and operated Precision Service Company in Lawrenceville until 1986. An avid boater, he retired to his boat in Fulton, MS.George was a member of Rotary International, a life member of the Elks, a life member of the Mason's, life member of the PI Kappa Alpha Fraternity, a member and instructor for the US Power Squadron and a member of the Sports Car Club of America. He was a Veteran of WWII in the Pacific Theatre and occupied Japan.Survivors include 2 sons: George S. and Rosalind Tipsword of Houston, TX, Thomas R. and Kathy Tipsword of Lawrenceville, IL, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.The body will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be conducted at a later date.
