George Wilson Foss

George Wilson Foss, age 91, of Lawrenceville passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at United Methodist Village North Campus. He was born November 16, 1918 in Sumner, IL the son of Marion Monroe and Cora (Henry) Foss. He married Mary Katherine Young, July 4, 1942 and she survives.George was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrenceville and a member of the American Legion. He was an Army veteran, having served during WWII.George had worked at Snap-On Tool in Mt. Carmel, IL, Central Cigar in Lawrenceville, and Goodwine-Rich Home Furnishings in Lawrenceville.George was preceded in death by one son Thomas Foss, three brothers Cecil, Bernis, and Fred Foss and one sister Vera (Foss) Earnst.Survivors include his wife Mary Katherine of Lawrenceville; one son John Richard Foss and his wife Dana of Vincennes; four grandchildren Todd Foss, Barrett Foss, Elizabeth (Foss) Davison, and Brian Foss; as well as two great-grandchildren Cathlene Warren and Faelyn Foss.Funeral services will be 11:00 am (IL time) Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville with burial to follow in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm (IL time) at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1407-State Street, Lawrenceville, IL 62439.
