Garold Lee 'Po' Holmes

Garold Lee ‘Po’ Holmes, age 82, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born on January 13, 1940 in Lawrence County, Illinois, son of William Edgar and Mary Theodore (Young) Holmes.

Garold worked in construction. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; eight brothers; five sisters; one son, Brad Holmes; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include two children, Lisa Rhodes and husband, Jimmy of Westfork, Indiana and Sheri Vinson and husband, Donnie of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one daughter-in-law, Melanie Holmes of Fort Branch, Indiana; five grandchildren, Bryan Vinson and wife, Melissa of Brownsburg, Indiana, Amber Miller and husband, Mark of Robinson, Illinois, Jessica Newton and husband, Brandon of Terre Haute, Indiana, Joshua Holmes and Brianna of Carmel, Indiana, and Justin Holmes and wife, Shandy of Newton, Illinois; five great-grandchildren, Xander Miller, Ben Newton, Hannah Newton, Emma Holmes and Emmit Holmes; one brother, Edgar ‘Junior’ Holmes and wife, Anne of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Karen Holmes of Mt. Carmel, Illinois and Margie Holmes of Lawrenceville, Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, October 01, 2022 at 11:00 AM CDT at the Zion Cemetery. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is in charge of the arrangements.
