Frank S. Ladner, age 87, of Lawrenceville died November 8, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospice. He was born September 23, 1927 in Warren, MN. His childhood home was in Fargo, ND. He attended St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. Following graduation, he arrived in Lawrenceville in 1948 as the first full-time agent for Golden Rule Insurance Company. He served as President of Congressional Life Insurance Company, now Golden Rule, and President of the L & R Insurance Agency. In 1986 he became President of State Bond Insurance in New Ulm, MN. and also President of the State Bond Sales Agency. Frank S. Ladner served for many years on the Lawrenceville-Vincennes Bi-State Airport Authority. He was Co-chairman of the $600,000 fund drive for the Lawrence County Medical Center and in May 1980 he received the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce Person of the Year award for that work. In December 1980 he was presented the Forward Look Award by the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital Board of Director "in recognition of personal efforts to recruit physicians for the community." St John's University presented him with its highest alumni honor, the Father Walter Reger Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his major support for his Alma Mater. In 2010, Frank Ladner was recognized by the Walter A. Davis Citation, Vincennes University. Until his death Frank S. Ladner was a Vice-Chairman of the Bank of Lawrence County and a director of R.T. Jones, F.S. Ladner and Assoc., Inc., a St. Louis brokerage firm. In 1952 Frank married Julia Rooney Ladner. They have six children: Peggy Ladner of St. Paul, MN; Tom Ladner of Tulsa, Ok: Julie Ladner of Santa Barbara, CA; Will Ladner of Lawrenceville, Il.; Mary Ladner Bauer of St. Louis, Mo; Ann Marie Ladner of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl. The Ladners also have 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Frank is also survived by a sister, Mary Jane Grant. Preceding Frank in death are his mother, father, stepfather and one brother. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
