Francis 'Keith' Scaggs

Francis ‘Keith' Scaggs, 87, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the United Methodist Village. He was born on January 17, 1929 in Lawrence County, Illinois to Wilbur and Aletha (Martin) Scaggs. He married Mary Lou Keneipp on May 23, 1948 and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2007. Keith worked as a drilling foreman for Marathon for 37-1/2 years, as well as being a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Sumner United Methodist Church. He served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran in Korea. Preceding Keith in death were his parents; his wife, Mary Lou; his son, Michael; his brother, Don; and his sister, Mona Balding. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Laurie Scaggs Prior; sister-in-law, Linda Scaggs; grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Scaggs and Courtney (Daniel) Finley; and two great grandchildren, Natalie and Bentley Finley. Funeral services will be Friday, June 10, 2016, 11:00 AM at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday prior to the service from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crest Haven Cemetery. Memorial donations in Keith's memory may be made to the Sumner United Methodist Church.
