Biography
Eunice Irene Gentry, 85, passed away March 15, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Knox County, Indiana on February 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late James and Geineva Rainey. She married Charles Gentry on September 6, 1954.
Eunice graduated from Vincennes University with a Bachelors Degree in nursing and was a practicing registered nurse for over 60 years, Eunice worked as the Plant Nurse at the Texaco Refinery, Lawrence County Memorial Hospital, Crawford County Memorial Hospital and the United Methodist Village. She was also a Director of Nursing at Red Hill Rest Haven, a skilled 96 bed nursing facility which she owned with her husband, Charles. A member of Pinkstaff United Methodist Church, she was very active in Hospice and volunteered for numerous years. She was deeply proud to be a resident of Lawrence County and always described it as "God's Country".
Preceding Eunice in death were her parents; her husband Charles; a brother, James Rainey, and a sister, Rosena Combs.
Survivors include her son, Charles Gentry II and his wife Teresa; four grandchildren, Jeffery, James, Carly and Charles Gentry, III, as well as two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Jordan Gentry.
A dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Pinkstaff Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11 AM at the church.
Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
