Eugene B. Gerkin

Biography Eugene B. Gerkin age 88 of rural Lawrenceville,Il. died Friday afternoon at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He was born July 27, 1923 in Vincennes,Indiana the son of Benjamin and Inez (Hitt) Gerkin. He married Sharon Gerkin on February 24, 1995 and she survives. Eugene was a retired truck driver having worked for Motor Freight and Branch. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a Fifty year plus Mason and a avid cardinal and Pacer fan. Survivors include his wife Sharon of rural Lawrenceville; two sons, Barry (Angela) Gerkin of rural Lawrenceville,Il., Ronald ( Cherri) Gerkin of Vincennes,In. One daughter Sandra (Dave) Holland of Pinkstaff,Il. Seven grandchildren, ten greatgrandchildren also survive. Preceding him in death are six brothers and five sisters, and his parents. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon 1:00p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville,Il. Visitation will be Wednesday 11:00 a.m. till the service hour of 1:00p.m. Graveside rites by the VFW and American Legion will performed at the cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Louis Dayson Cardiovascular Center.
