Estelle S. Zelnys

Estelle S. Zelnys age 91 of rural Lawrenceville, IL died peacefully Saturday evening, December 18, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.She was born December 15, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Adam Bernadisus and Suzanna Kaikaris Bernadisus. She married Richard A. Zelnys June 30, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1997.Estelle was a beautician for years, including owning and operating Jackies Beauty Box in North Riverside, IL for eight years. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels, the local library, and Tabernacle Guild at Mater Christi Church. Since moving to Lawrenceville with husband Dick in 1992, she was active in the Lawrenceville Garden Club and volunteered in the adult literacy program at the Lawrenceville Library and Robinson Library.Estelle loved to read, watch Jeopardy and tell a good joke from the hundreds she remembered from years as a beautician. She will be remembered always for her warm heart, generous spirit, sense of humor, and the Lithuanian foods she loved to share.Surviving are two daughters, Susan Clettenberg of Vincennes, IN and Sylvia Zelnys of Palm Springs, CA; one brother, Anthony Bernadisus of Ormond Beach, FL; two grandsons, David and Michael Clettenberg; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville; Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception church in Bridgeport.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lawrence County Public Library, 814 12th Street, Lawrenceville, IL 62439.
