Edna Lucille Cullum Rausch, a resident of Chapman, KS, passed away at Chapman Valley Manor in Chapman, KS on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the age of 94.
Edna was born September 12, 1917 at Shirley, AR. Her parents were Henry McKinley and Lucinda Jane Carmichael Cullum. She attended grade school, and helped with the family farm. She served with the U.S. Army Women's Corp. from 1943 till 1951. While in the military, she obtained her GED, the rank of Sergeant, and she served as a Chef. She was married to Albert William Rausch on December 31, 1949 at Ft. Monroe, VA. After being stationed at Ft. Monroe, VA, they were stationed at Ft. Greeley, Alaska, and in 1963, they were transferred to Ft. Riley, KS. They made Chapman, KS their home in 1968. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert on June 20, 2000. She continued to live at the family home until moving to Chapman Valley Manor in October of 2006. She was a member of the Chapman United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, the Priscilla Club, and she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
She is survived by one son Michael William Rausch and his wife Pamela Kling of Madison, WI; one daughter Lucretia Elizabeth Snider and her husband Ray of rural Abilene, KS; six grandsons: William Rausch and Mary McFadden, Thomas Rausch, Paul Snider and wife Afton, Caleb Snider and wife Lindsey, Luke Snider, and Mark Snider; four great-grandchildren: Remi Rausch, Sydnie Snider, Elsa Snider and Cade Snider. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert, one infant son Mark Wayne Rausch in September of 1956; three sisters: B. Ethel Cullum Johnson, Rosalee Cullum Craig, Ruthie Cullum Harden; three brothers: Henry "Dub" Cullum, Claud Cullum, Calvin "Cude" Cullum.
Funeral services will be held at the Chapman United Methodist Church in Chapman, KS on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10 AM. Rev . Kenneth Trickle, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Londeen Funeral Chapel in Chapman, KS on Friday evening, June 22, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. The Longdeen Funeral Chapel will be open for visitation Friday afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM. Memorials may be given to the U.S. Army Women's Corp, Chapman Valley Manor, Chapman Library, Chapman Senior Citizen Center, or the Chapman United Methodist Church. Graveside Services and Military Burial will be held at the Derr Cemetery in Pinkstaff, IL on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 am. The family will have a visitation Monday evening, June 25, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.
