Edith C. Miller

Edith C. Miller, age 97, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away on April 17, 2025, at Richland Nursing and Rehab in Olney, Illinois.  She was born on April 18, 1927, in Creal Springs, Illinois, the daughter of William O. and Clara (Simmons) Chism.  She married Martin E. Miller on January 27, 1946, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2015.

Edith owned and operated The Appliance + Store in Olney for forty-three years.  Edith enjoyed working with her daughter, Deb.  She was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Bridgeport.  She and Martin started a food pantry in the basement of their home and later moved the food pantry to New Hope Christian Church.  Her hobbies included camping, traveling, crossword puzzles, and watching television game shows. She was an avid Cardinal fan.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Martin; four brothers, Ronald Earle, J.G., Don and Bobby; four sisters, Verla Fisher, Iva Mae Orr, Lillian Dlugos and Wanda Chism.

Survivors include two children, Mike and PK Miller of Mooresville, Indiana, and Deb and Dan Kelley of Olney; one sister, Betty (Lowell) Kinsley of Evansville, Indiana; three grandchildren, Lyndsay (Jason) Shotwell, Sean (Megan) Kelley, and Ryan (Kayla) Kelley; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, April 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hope Christian Church Food Pantry or Sarah Bush Hospice.
