Edith Frances Chansler

Edith Frances Chansler, 87, of rural Bridgeport, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 22, 1928 in Lawrenceville, Illinois the daughter of Charles Miller and Edith Lindsey Miller. She married Harold "Sock" Chansler on June 16, 1944 and preceded her in death on January 10, 2012. Frances was a homemaker. She was a member of the Highway Church of God, where she taught Sunday school. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking and gardening. In younger years, Frances would awake to a floor full of teenagers, and so enjoyed taking care of them; they became her kids for life. In later years she enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens. Preceding Frances in death were her parents; husband Harold; three sons, Robert Eugene, Harold, and Larry; one brother, Wilson Miller; and two sisters, Irene Stevenson and Gleneva Talbot. She is also preceded in death by her special friend Pablo Valadez Jr. Survivors include two sons, Stephen "Steve" Chansler and wife Molly Jo of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Charles "Chuck" Chansler and wife Barb of Saskatoon, Canada; one daughter, Rita Diane Davis and husband Pete of Noble, Illinois; daughter-in-laws, Rita Chansler of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois and Pat Mefford Chansler of Abingdon, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Marty (Jamie) Chansler, Troy Chansler, Jeremiah Chansler, Shannon (Mike) Meehan, Angela (Brad) Getts, Cassandra (Joel) Mills, Jody (Kim) Chansler, Zach Chansler, Brad (Abby) Kuhlig, Lacie (Danny Morgan) Kuhlig-Harrison, Jessica (Jason) Edwards, Nathan Chansler, and Tiffany Chansler; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Adam, Owen, Taylor, Riley, Jaidyn, Jaxtyn, Makeilah Chansler, Logan, Morgan, Marissa Meehan, Zaykk Mills, T.J., Haley, Mason Getts, Naleigha Harrison, Delton and Kase Morgan, and Reed Kuhlig; and step great-grandchildren, Blaze, Trevor, and Ivie Edwards. Frances leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and special friends, Pablo and Erika Valadez, Betty Milligan, Mildred Judy, Chris Hancock and special friends and pastor, Rev. Bill (Mattie) Flynn. Funeral services will be Friday, July 8, 2016 1:00 PM at the Highway Church of God. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Highway Church of God or to the Lawrenceville Senior Citizens.
