Eddie Vangilder

Eddie VanGilder, age 80, of Sumner, IL passed away February 2, 2010 at the Lawrence Community Health Care Center in Bridgeport.He was born November 23, 1929 in Lawrence County, IL the son of Lonnie and Della (Fornoff) Van Gilder. On June 15, 1968 he married Billie Helm. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2002. He is survived by a daughter Vickie Brian of Sumner, IL.He was preceded in death by a grandson: Christopher Kocher, 2 brothers and an infant brother and infant sister.Eddie was a lifelong farmer. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church and the Beulah United Methodist Church in Sumner and was a very active member. He was also a member of Farm Bureau. He was a Volunteer Fireman for the Christy Township Fire Protection in Sumner. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00pm at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sumner City Cemetery. Visitation is also Thursday from 11:00am until the service hour of 1:00pm. Memorial donations may be given to the Lawrence Community Healthcare Center.Â
