Dwight V. Coonce

Dwight V. Coonce, age 70, of rural Lawrenceville passed away May 6, 2014, at his residence. He was born July 22, 1943, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Orban and Ollie Mae (Lafferty) Coonce. He married G. Jeanie Burchett on October 12, 1963, and she died June 14, 1997. Dwight worked at Whitco Chemical Company (Pioneer Asphalt) in Lawrenceville for several years. He also worked as a janitor at Golden Rule Insurance and Unit #20 School District. Dwight enjoyed gardening. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanie, one son Dwight V. "Ike" Coonce, Jr., two brothers Bert Coonce and an infant brother, as well as two sisters Grace Davis and Frances Dunlap. Survivors include his fiancee' Ruby Lear of rural Lawrenceville; two brothers Dale (Janet) Coonce of Gastonia, North Carolina, Arnum (Sandra) Coonce of Blanchard, Louisiana; one sister Kay Rigg of Oxford, North Carolina and his extended family Kirk Lear of Nicholasville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 1 PM Friday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dwight Coonce-Parkside Yearbook Fund with envelopes available through the funeral home.
