Dorthey L. Ralston

Dorthey L. Ralston, age 87, of Lawrenceville, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 5, 1927, in Vincennes, Indiana, the daughter of William John Volkman and Joanna (Koonce) Volkman. She married James Anson Ralston on March 18, 1946, and he died January 30, 1985. Dorthey was self-employed cleaning houses and business offices, painting and being a caretaker. Preceding Dorthey in death were her parents, her husband, one son William Volkman; five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one son Alan Ralston of Lawrenceville, three daughters Joan Burnett of Lawrenceville, Barbara Akers of Sumner and Sylvia Lancaster of Sumner; one brother Richard Volkman of Georgia; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 PM Monday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be 11 am to 1 PM Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Billett Cemetery.
