Dorothy M Wells

Dorothy M. Wells, age 91, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born July 16, 1923, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Corrie and Nellie (Henry) Wright. She married Isaac J. Wells on April 16, 1944, and he passed away December 2, 2003. Dorothy was a homemaker. During WWII, she made components for land mine detectors. She was a lifelong member of Sumner United Methodist Church. Other memberships include Ladies Home Extension, Cub Scout den mother, and band booster. Dorothy was an avid high school football and basketball fan. Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, her husband Isaac, and one sister Virginia Fiscus. Survivors include: two sons, Gary Wells of Evansville, Indiana and Gregg (Connie) Wells of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and two grandchildren Cory Wells of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Rachel Wells of Orlando, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM Thursday at Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sumner Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sumner United Methodist Church with envelopes available through the funeral home.
