Dorothy Mcdowell

Dorothy McDowell-Prater, age 72, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at her residence. Born, February 23, 1939 in Lawrence County, IL she was the daughter of Hubert and Golda (Hampton) Joseph. She married Jack McDowell August 13, 1983 and he passed away March 16, 2008. She married her present husband, Kent Prater March 15, 2011 and he survives. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Central Christian Church in Sumner. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, one son Raphael (Joe) Stovall,three sisters, and one grandchild. Survivors include her current husband Kent Prater, four sons Mark (Billie) Stovall and Kenny Stovall of Lawrenceville, Jack McDowell of Pennsylvania, and Roy McDowell of Sumner; six daughters Debbie McDowell of Robinson, Carol Phillips of Lawrenceville, Grace McDowell, Connie Boldrey, Amy Deisher, and Annette (Leon) Troutt all of Olney, IL; 16 grandchildren George Gosnell, Rachael and Greg Crowe, Balinda Parish, Timothy Boldrey, Mackie Boldrey, Janie Troutt, A.J. Harvey, Travis Harvey, Shaun Michael Stovall, and Heather Stovall and 7 great-grandchildren Gregory Crowe, Jr., Lauryn Crowe, Sarah Jo Crowe, Amber Crowe, Zackery Kocher, Jasper Bond, and Madelin Harvey. A celebration of life for Dorothy will be Sunday afternoon 2 to 5 PM at Pete's Hangout, 1803-14th Street, Lawrenceville. At the close of the visitation, friends are welcome to share in a meal with the family at Pete's. Private burial service at a later date.
