Dorothy J. Askren

Dorothy J. Askren, 90, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Willow Manor in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born June 25, 1927 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the daughter of William Daniel and Florence Goldie (Marx) Jackman. She married John E. Askren on January 7, 1948 and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1991. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Bridgeport, Illinois. Her hobbies included reading, knitting, and camping. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John; one son, Joseph; and two sisters, Thelma Kiser and Hester Walls. Survivors include two sons, Daniel Askren and wife, Diane, of California and Thomas Askren and wife, Ellen, of Portage, Indiana; one daughter, Brandy Morris and husband, Pete, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one brother, Harold Jackman of Sumner, Illinois; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM CST at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Cresthaven Memorial Park.
